Have you always known you wanted to be a writer?
Where does the inspiration for your stories come from?
I get bits of inspiration from everywhere, but the majority of it comes from music. I can hear one line in a song and a story begins to form in my mind.
What would readers be surprised to know about you?
I’m an extremely shy person, so I don’t know how to take compliments. I appreciate them, but I always question whether or not I responded to them well. I also get extremely emotional every time I receive a message from a reader telling me how much they enjoyed my books.
What are your hobbies outside of writing?
I love watching movies, reading and organizing. I recently found a new obsession that involves decorating my planner with tons of cute stickers. It’s fun and relaxing.
Why is Black Romance important to you?
Black Romance is important to me because I know that it exists. I’ve seen it and I believe in it. Readers deserve to read about how beautiful love can be between a black man and a black woman.
What advice would you give aspiring authors?
Drown out the negativity and create in a way that only you can. Believe it or not, there’s an audience out there for every style of writing. You don’t have to write like everyone else or the way that everyone tells you that you should. Make your own lane and do what works for you. Forget the rules. Make your own.
