Where does the inspiration for your stories come from?
What would readers be surprised to know about you?
When I watch The Walking Dead, sometimes I cheer for the zombies.
What are your hobbies outside of writing?
Thinking about Target. Driving to Target. Shopping at Target. When I die I want to be buried in Target’s parking lot.
Why is Black Romance important to you?
Black romance is my safe space. When I open one on my Kindle, it’s more than just a book. It’s as if a sistah, who looks like me, talks like me and knows what it’s like to be a black woman in today’s society, sat down beside me and said, “Honey, have I got a story to tell you.”
I want my readers to feel the same way, but as a romcom author it’s more like, “Girl, I’m getting ready to make you laugh your ass off.”
What advice would you give aspiring authors?
The same advice I give myself when I sit down to write. I also keep it on a Post-it note stuck to my computer – ‘just tell a good story’.
