A Dash of Love was a sprinkle of love and romance mixed sexily. This short novella packed a punch and hit the spot. It’s always refreshing to read about Black Love with magnificent characters to support the storyline. In this story, Aiden and Dana had the bright idea of having a no-strings-attached relationship which went airy from the start. I’m not sure how Dana expected to have that type of relationship with a piece of honey named Aiden next door. The story did not need Columbo to help them decipher the love connection between them was the real deal. The story started out with a bang, so to speak, with Dana being awakened by Aiden’s hammering loud music. You see, Aiden and Dana shared a duplex with thin paper walls. Aiden was a sculptor and artist of pottery and other finely crafted delights. He was accustomed to working with music to guide his gifted hands to craft and mold masterpieces.
I loved, loved, loved, the initial meeting between the two. It was two o’clock in the morning, and Dana heard Aiden’s artistic revelry as he made magic happen. He came to the door with clay over his body in grey sweatpants and no underwear while Dana’s attention focused on big Mr. Everett on full display.
Dana, on the other hand, was dressed scantily clad in a thin nightshirt that almost covered her behind. They each exchanged mean words with one another, and she stormed back over to her side of the duplex with sex on her mind.
Dana and her sister managed Everett’s Bakery; the towns infamous bakery their parents were slowly turning over the reign to the sisters. Their parents hoped to give the daughter’s full control over the bakery. Ms. Janet was holding on like crazy for some reason. This story also featured glimpses into the relationship between Tessa Everett and Isaiah Nobel and Stephen and Izzy Nobel. A few things in this story include a spoiler or two if you have not read the Nobel series.
I was amazed at how much Aiden and Dana fought like teenagers who liked one another. The back and forth and fighting went on for a while until Aiden wound his way into Dana’s heart and in her bed. She put up a stubborn front anytime he made any advances toward them being a couple. I was so happy when she came to her senses and let her heart guide her for a change.
The story was short, sexy and filled with angst and goodness. I loved the connection and chemistry between Aiden and Dana. It was easy to see the love. A few times I wanted to choke Dana because she gave Aiden a challenge at every turn. Philosophers sometimes say a good thing is worth the effort. Aiden might want to strike the person who coined that phrase. Frankly speaking, Aiden worked like a Hebrew slave to win Dana over. In the end, this story was worth the wait. 5 Stars worthy.
