How many times have I mentioned how particular authors draw my attention to the books they write? And no, that was not a rhetorical question. I’ve said it too numerous times actually to count. Joy Avery is one of those authors, and I like her storytelling abilities. In this story, readers get the pleasure of meeting yet another Lassiter sister.
The three-book series featured a different sister in each story. Book three was Sadona Lassiter’s story along with her little fuzzy side-kick. This story opened with Sadona leaving her piece of crap husband to find happiness in Mount Pleasance, North Carolina. Now, I know you all or thinking the same thing I was thinking, didn’t Andy of Mayberry visit this town a time or two? Oh, well, the city sounds like just the place to be if you’re looking for a snooze fest and a hot veterinarian.
In this story, Sadona had a minor run-in with a little fuzzy creature with her car. Once she found out the dog was not severely injured, she scooped him up, mange and all, and carried him to the local vet’s office seeking medical care. Now, this is where folks minding another person’s business might be a good thing. Keith Fremont was the Veterinarian, and his receptionist was quick to ascertain the new client would be a perfect match for her boss. She set all the wheels in motion to be a matchmaker for the new girl in town with her very eligible boss. When her boss met the beautiful new-comer, he agreed with his assistant’s assessment. After the good doctor treated the dog, washed, provided shots and overall gave him a clean bill of health, he was ready to play let’s make a deal with Sadona. The cute little pooch was a sweet addition to the story and effortlessness in the way the author told this story.
Keith convinced Sadona to keep the dog for two weeks until he healed, and then he would come get him. Sadona succumbed to his suggestion and took the dog she named Buddy with her. Over the next few weeks, Keith became attached to both the dog and his owner and romance began to flourish between them. A secret in his former life caused a rift in their relationship. His reaction to seeing Sadona with her ex almost caused her to walk away from Keith for good. Communication is always the key. He nearly ruined his chances with the woman he loved based on poor communication. In the end, love prevailed. This was a beautiful love story with a lovely happily ever after ending. This was a 5 Star story, and I loved it.
