I loved this final installment of the Strickland sister’s stories.
This story started out getting readers ready. The scene in the kitchen, yes it was designed to get readers all hot and bothered from the start of the story. And man, did she succeed in her effort to arouse our curiosity as to whether or not to take a shower first, or shower later. This story featured Nicole and her two men. Nicole was engaged to Travis, but she was also in a carnal relationship with Damon. My initial thought was what the H3!!. And my second thought was men do it all the time. What’s the big deal with a female doing what men have done since after Eve’s vajay jay. I know double standard. I was almost caught up for a millisecond.
Damon Davis and Nicky Strickland were best friends and had been since they were in elementary school together. They had an FWB friendship. Travis supposedly loved Nicky, but his skills in the bedroom left much to be desired. Travis, on the other hand, handled his business as a hot man should. He took excellent care of Travis’s lady. He was the side piece with pleasure. That was okay until Travis decided he wanted more. On the eve of her wedding, Nicky had an epiphany and called Travis to break the bad news to him about their impending marriage.
Prior to making the decision to be with the man she loved and lusted after, Nicky vacillated with her decision to stay with Travis versus being with the man who rocked her world. Travis was the best choice financially. Damon was the best emotional and passionate choice for her future. I’ll take passion over pennies any day of the week. I wasn’t sure why she could not make a decision when her lady parts knew the answer and had known all along. A felt sad for Damon while Nicky was trying to make her decision about the better man. Damon knew what he was getting into when he started the fling with Nicky, but it did not make me feel any better about her going back and forth between the two men, that was the case until I learned about Travis’s requests about sex. A few times Travis almost sounded DL(ish). Here’s my case- in point- how was it Travis would allow this guy who was in love with his woman to be a part of his wedding? Where was his he’s not just your friend radar? A hot mess. Another hot mess was Damon’s elitist bougie A-hole parents. I did not like them one little bit. In fact, I wanted to throat punch Judge McClure and his wife.
After the big brouhaha associated with the break-up, I was elated for some reason. At that point, Nicky and Damon’s chance arose for them to be together. Finally, it was as though the gates opened and the channel flowed freely for the first time in years. Before the good times, Nicky and Damon had a few rough spots in their new relationship. I was not worried about the relationship even when Nicky acted like a spoiled single-minded brat; I was still hopeful she and Damon would make it for the long hall. Friends to lovers stories always make me happy. This story had some very intense moments emotionally. The sexual scenes were well described and well executed. It was easy to see the love between Damon and Nicky. Their connection was five-speed fast with the top down and weave blowing in the wind. In the end, the glove compartment scene was about right for this couple. Unconventional to the very end. This was an amazing series. 5 Stars.
