I am a fan of this authors writing. Especially when I need something light and airy, or sweet with not a lot of drama. If that’s what you are looking for, this is your author. This was the fourth book in the Lennox in Love Series. So…. I would suggest you read the first three to better grasp all the characters being discussed. It is not necessary, but I would recommend doing so, as each novella features a different Lennox, who were previously featured in previous novellas.
This story was about Lauren and Kenton’s broken relationship. Lauren broke up with Kenton after he revealed he was not ready to marry and start a family. He was freaked out because in his mind, they had only been together just one year. Now… First of all, I was with Kenton’s way of thinking. How was she going to tell him to marry her or hit the road. I would have said, “See You Missy,” What was she thinking? Men don’t mature at the same rate, and an ultimatum was just the same as saying, ‘run like the wind,’ and that was the outcome. She achieved her objective and moved away from her home town. Not sure why, but- anyway..
Then Lauren’s, I-need-someone-to-marry-me person accepted the proposal from a nerdy too busy to be bothered guy named Evan Kaizer… Because I could not get a clear visual on Evan; even his name was ambiguous, and I could not feel any love coming from Lauren for her so-called fiancé`. I made no connection with him. Maybe this was my subconscious mind cheering for Kenton. On the contrary, when Lauren and Kenton were in the same room, I could feel the heat emanating from their bodies.
All the while, Lauren continued to pretend Evan was the man. She was determined to proceed with the outlandish reception Evan was planning. By the way, her father was covering the exorbitant cost($20k). Meanwhile, her father was in the background plotting something to keep them apart. The funny thing, her father was the one paying for the fiasco reception being held at Kenton’s family reception hall. At first, I thought her daddy had loss a few screws, then it became clear what his motives were. And absentee Evan, unknowingly left the doors open for Kenton to reestablish himself in his former girlfriends heart. Hey Fellas!, that’s what happens when you leave the hen house unattended, another Cockerel will drop in and fertilize the egg- and leave you holding an empty nest…
I tried to look at the break-up from Lauren’s points of view, and I came up empty. It appeared neither of them took the time to establish an understanding beforehand. In the end, the fear of losing Lauren forever pushed Kenton to finally take a stand. The Lennox family members tried to stay neutral, but it was clear everyone was cheering for Lauren and Kenton, instead of boring Evan and Lauren.I liked the chemistry between Kenton and Lauren. They had so many things in common to be attracted to one another. Evan on the other hand, was like a blank cavernous space.
A Tina Martin story does not have a lot of sexual content or excessive amounts of sexual activity. With that said, the story reflected on loving and being together in mind and spirit. Knowing the person and loving them anyway. In this story, the author covered intimacy that didn’t always include the sexual act. I was good with that. I enjoyed this latest installment, and look forward to seeing which Lennox will be next to bite the love dust. This was a very nice read 4.5 Stars.
