On various occasions, I’ve mentioned viewing the content of a good story with several measures- whether or not I’m upset, cussing at my kindle, angry with the villain, gleeful, loving the romantic side of the story, or laughing maniacally during my reading process. This my friends are the signs of a good thing.
In this story, Leslie inherited the salon she was the proprietor from her mother, who’d received it from her mother, Leslie’s grandmother. The salon was their families legacy. However, Leslie received an old business, with financial constraints, along with numerous physical and mechanical issues. More importantly, she inherited a pain in the butt ex. Her nemesis was ex-NBA star, Kade Cavanaugh. Kade owned Guys and Dolls, the competing salon on the other side of town.
As the story progressed, it was evident Kade and Leslie had unresolved issues associated with the demise of their previous relationship. His unnamed issues were the crux of Leslie’s disdain for Kade and her unwillingness to see reason as it related to him. Leslie’s responsibility in their downfall associated with her stubbornness and her penchant for closing her heart too easily. The unspoken issues associated with Kade’s decision to relinquishing his scholarship. The reason’s further explained the significance of his choice to leave college for a chance to become an NBA star.
Leslie and Kade discovered the problems associated with her business failings- and his companies success were the Mayor. The Mayor was the catalyst pitting one section of town against the other. Once Kade revealed the truth associated with his decisions years ago, the two kissed, reconciled their differences, and joined forces to combat the evil dividing the two small towns. Along the way, Kade and Leslie established a sweet camaraderie that included lip-smacking, butt grabbing and sensual snuggling.
Kade, former NBA star, hometown hero was back to create his legacy. Kade wanted his legacy to be more than his career-ending injury. Kade wanted his legacy to include helping the less fortunate. For him to accomplish this feat, Kade needed Leslie as his accomplice. Leslie’s families popularity and Kade’s notoriety proved to be a difficult challenge for the Mayor, despite his previous influence over the townspeople. It was refreshing to see the town begin to prosper, once the two main characters were front and center.
The love connection was always easy to visualize. The nature of their relationship entirely displayed and focused. Kade’s health had become a concern for Leslie, and naturally stubborn Kade was unwilling to hear her demands. Leslies equally stubborn nature helped Kade see the truth about his health issues and the measures she would undertake to improve his health. The backstory and the extras added spunk and interest to the story. This undertaking was yet another, great story, told by an outstanding author. My rating- 5 Stars.
