When Mrs. Jones mentioned that she was writing Eddie and Astrid’s story, I was overjoyed. Many of you know that Carter Is my main bae… Nixon, Jayson, Jordan, King, Eddie and Harlan are my other bae’s. With that said… Some might have been concerned because of Eddie’s vibe and relationships in telling his story. I was not concerned. I’ve liked Eddie’s persona from the very first book. I believe his story solidified his place in the Serendipitous series, and in the hearts of other readers. The way his story unfolded gave readers a chance to see his realness and his personality up close and personal.
Many readers I’m sure, had a feeling that Eddie’s sour puss attitude and disdain for Astrid stemmed from his strong pull towards her. The chemistry he wanted to fight was not having it. The name calling and wanting to pull her hair was a sure fire signal that he wanted her badly… Astrid’s getting under his collar was too much fun. The premise for the story was Eddie finally admitting that maybe he could have someone that got him. Some who would accept him for the man that he was. So naturally he was thrown off kilter by Astrid. Astrid was not his normal type. She was not sleek, nor polished, or even what some would consider well put together. She wasn’t a runway model type. That something like love being Astrid! now, that was unfathomable for Eddie. Her aura was almost too eccentric. Astrid was untamed, with unruly hair and a spicy tongue. The bantering back and forth, trading barbs and slick comments was nicely incorporated into the story. Eddie remained true to his character with his softer side surfacing as his true feeling for Astrid flourished… Astrid on the other hand was the strong-willed, force to be reckoned, with fireball who continually kept Eddie off his usual game.. I laughed so many times at the times Eddie had to talk to himself about what she was doing to him..
When they took the plunge into getting to know one another, their first encounter was almost earth shattering and mind boggling for both of them. The sexual chemistry in itself was worth the read. The added bonus in any CCJ story is always the fun dialogue between characters, the backstory, and especially the parents in a story. Eddie’s Mom was to die for funny. So there you have it, another great story. I always enjoy getting the chance to see the people who live in this quaint city, run successful businesses in this certain neighborhood, in Somewhere USA… Another superbly written story by Mrs. Jones.. 5+ Stars!!
