The Lover by Nia Forrester was a nicely told story. A revisit of sorts by one of her characters from a previous story. Readers of Ivy’s League may recall that Ivy and Ryann were best friends. Ryann was the one staunchly opposed to Eli and Ivy’s relationship.. In this story, readers were blessed with a better version of Ryann this time around. She was a kinder, gentler soul. In this story, Ryann was ready for her own measure of happiness. She had decided her happiness included a baby. Spencer Hall was a colleague and a guy who’d asked Ryann out every time he saw her for the past two years. Ryann had always spurned his advances. Spencer was eye candy personified, and Ryann did not want to get caught in his web of desires and then being dumped. So she devised a devious plan to have a baby and not include the father in the equation other than his sperm. Ryann wanted a hot man’s lil soldier’s, not the man. On her 35th birthday Ryann decided it was time to put her plan in action. This plot twist in the story was really cool. The story had lots of humor, a nice storyline, likable characters with a sweet connection between the romantic characters. The couple also had a nice sexual chemistry. The back story with both their families was rather sad at times, yet that storyline added much depth to the story. Ryann’s family secret was a prime part of the story and the build-up to the conclusion. The story was fluid, the plot was nicely developed, entertaining and the romance was sensual. Overall the story was a real treat. 5 Stars..
