This is Nicole Falls fourth book. She has grown with each rendering. I wonder how long it took seasoned authors to have consecutive hits with concurrent releases? A Falls story is fun, fanciful and filled with pages of goodness.
In this story, Damon and Patricia were so much fun to read about. It was like a real-life couple one might encounter in their neighborhood. When Damon Patterson opened his new pastry shop, he did not fathom being successful in his venture so quickly. His plans were to chill out and focus solely on his business’ accomplishments. Notice I said that was the plan. His plan was derailed when Patricia Payne fell in his lap and into his heart. Their attraction resembled a flash of lightning in the night, which sparked a flame and ignited both of their unbridled desire for one another.
Since neither Damon nor Patricia was without extra relationship baggage, there were times when navigation felt like a steep climb for both parties. Patricia’s past made her skittish of commitment, especially with her son Patrick involved. Patricia only wanted a man for carnal comfort; she wasn’t interested in a full-fledged commitment. Damon was single-mindedly focused on his business expansion. Being in a committed relationship was not on the table for discussion. So when the couple agreed to a no-strings relationship which would focus solely on sex, the plan never had a chance of success once Damon dipped into her honey pot, and his stallion allowed her to side-straddle him. The way they each valiantly fought their attraction for one another was admirable. A few times I wanted to tell them to give up the fight and take one for the team. Needlessly, they fought what we all knew was inevitable. The connection and spirited interactions anytime together were like explosives igniting.
The angle with Damon’s restaurant, his need for new staffing, and the sidebar with the absentee employee was a nice fitting storyline. I liked the way Damon interacted with his staff. The quick bantering and smart-aleck comments were just too much fun. I could see that happening in a hip young establishment in a nice little town. Raquel, Danny, Nico, Reema, and Dorian were just as much fun. I loved anytime they had things to say. I laughed silly. “She was a few steps short in the Cha Cha Slide.” This was just an example of the antics this author pulled off in telling this story.
The characters were well-developed and so much fun to read about. The connection between Damon and Patricia was super sexy, and I enjoyed the story with much elation. It is nice to see the authors growth with each new release. I’ll be waiting with bated breath to see what’s in store for her readers the next time around. Yes, take my suggestion and check out this author; she is funny, entertaining and an executive level storyteller. Do yourself a favor and find out how wonderful this author is by reading this book, and don’t forget to read the first two books in the series. My review – 5.0 Stars. I’m going to Cupid Shuffle and Cha Cha Slide my way out! Until next time…
